All 4 Mechanical Erebus Academy driver Bailey Sweeny has come home in a strong 4th place - from the 34 car field - during the final race of the opening round of the 2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 championship, at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Conditions throughout the whole weekend can only be described as soaking wet.
So much rain fell during the course of the weekend that Race 2 was set to be cancelled, with both the circuit and the pit area completely under water in parts, however after a delayed start it was run.
Sweeney showed true courage to bring the car home in 4th after battling with Bathurst 1000 podium legend Warren Luff.
Round 2 of the TGRA86 series takes place in Townsville, Qld on 8 -1 0 July.
Sweeny’s next race however will be at the wheel of the Hyundai TCR car when when he tackles the Phillip Island circuit on 18 - 22 March, 2022.
