BREAKOUT WEEKEND - PODIUMS AND RESULTS SHOWS HARD WORK PAYS OFF

All 4 Mechanical Erebus Academy driver Bailey Sweeny is riding high after a stunning weekend saw him claim 2 podiums in 3 races and be the fastest overall of the field in practice, during the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series round at the Bunnings Trade Sydney SuperNight event.

Far and away his best weekend since entering the national one make series, Sweeny says the results were a matter of ‘hard work paying off’.

“We’ve had pace before with some poor luck but on the weekend it came together.

We even struggled a bit with a suspension arm failure on Saturday but we were still able to get up and race at the front and to take away 2 podiums in a really tight national field, with some very talented drivers, shows how hard we have all been working as a team’.

This puts us in a great place moving forward and gives us plenty of confidence going into the next round and of course for Bathurst which is coming up in late November’.

The next round of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series is scheduled for 19 November back at the same venue in Sydney, as part of the Beaurepaires Supercars Sydney SuperNight event - before heading to Bathurst on 30 November, 2021
