The Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series is a domestic variant of the hugely successful Touring Car Racing formula adopted in more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, including the FIA WTCR World Touring Car Cup.

TCR is the the most market relevant motorsport category in Australia featuring 2.0-litre, turbocharged racing versions of the high selling ‘C Hatch’ segment – cars that Australians are buying and driving, represented by a broad range of automotive brands.

TCR Australia offers the status and exposure of high-level, national touring car racing with free-to-air television on the Seven Network, while being cost-controlled and attainable for teams and drivers to compete.

On the announcement Sweeny said, I am thrilled to be joining the grid of TCR Australia in 2022 and to be working with the championship winning team, HMO Customer Racing. It’s a dream come true. It shows all the hard work we have put in, in the past few years, is starting to pay off.

I have loved competing in the Toyota 86 series and we will continue to race in that category as well - all of course with the support from our amazing partners and sponsors and with the help and guidance from Erebus, who have been great’.

I am truly thankful for all our support and I look forward to now forging some new partnerships too, as we take on some of the best drivers in Australia, in one of the world’s most exciting racing categories’.

HMO Customer Racing won the TCR Australia championship in 2019 with Will Brown at the wheel. Brown has now gone on to a full time drive in the Repco Australia V8 Supercars series, with Erebus Motorsport.
