BAILEY'S BATHURST - SWEENY QUALIFIES 7th - THOUSANTHS OF A SECOND SPLIT PACK

All 4 Mechanical Erebus Academy driver Bailey Sweeny has QUALIFIED 7th fastest from 30 cars, for Race 1, on Day 2 of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 championship round at Mount Panorama, Bathurst.

Sweeny clocked the 6km circuit in a best time of 2.40.5 which put him 7th fastest and literally just a second off pole, meaning he will start Race 1 from the top of row 4.

Places 5 to 7 were split by thousands of a second.

And only 8 drivers managed to get into the 2.40 times.

Yesterday, in practice, Sweeny set a time of 2.40.4 - one ‘tenth of a second’ different from today - which shows just how consistent he is and how much he is pushing the limits.

Race 1 will be held at 12.00 noon on Friday and is set as a stand alone event for the day, with 2 races then to come - Race 2 on Saturday at 13.30 - and Race 3 on Sunday at 08.35 - as part of the Repco Supercars Bathurst 1000 event.

All races and qualifying will be shown live on TV on Foxtel across the whole weekend.
