After a long and frustrating wait, though restrictions and even race meeting cancellations, TGRA 86 driver Bailey Sweeny has finally gotten the chance to unleash his Toyota 86 on the streets of Townsville, during the opening 2 practice sessions, on Day 1, as part of the NTI Supercars Townsville 500.
Travelling from Batemans Bay to the far north Queensland location and with thanks to prime partners: All 4 Mechanical, Bayside Meats & Deli, Hip Pocket Work Wear, Onelife Gym, Pit Lane Media and Erebus Academy, Sweeny managed to lap the 2.86km walled street circuit in a time of 1:31.7799, to sit just 1 second off the fastest time of the day, in the 31 car field.
A rubbing tyre guard during practice 1 was fixed post session and resulted in a better time in practice 2.
The 3 day event sees QUALIFYING tomorrow (Saturday at 8.55am) and the RACE 1 of the 3 race weekend at 12.30 pm
